Economic Development & Business Retention Committee
Charge:
To coordinate the work of the board with the state's economic development strategy.
To conduct studies and analyses, as necessary, to determine the needs of Montana's employers and the workforce development strategies that are required to meet those needs.
Goals:

Engage employers of the state, in a sector-by-sector approach, to determine the specific needs of each sector and to recommend strategies to address the needs.

Determine the priority training needs of the state's employers and direct state training funds to those needs.

Promote a unified system of providing workforce assistance to Montana employers.

Coordinate projects with the Research and Analysis Bureau, who will serve as advisory and resource staff to the State Board.
Duties:

Work with Regents to assess economic impacts of Universities and 2-year schools.

Promote the importance of high skills and high productivity to Montana's employers and workers.

Improve the strength and responsiveness of training services made available to Montana employers and workers.

Increase opportunities for Montanans to prepare for Montana's jobs, now and in the future.

Identify opportunities for linkages among workforce programs, economic assistance, and economic development programs.
